Firfarov Apkadiy Gavropilovich

(03.03.1881-1937) 
 

Finished a technical school. Second Lieutenant (1905). B 1906-1910 Served as a mechanic in the Baltic Sea. In 1911, "the Askold" cruiser sailed in the seas of the Far East. Produced as a mechanical engineer, old lieutenant on April 14, 1913. In 1912 and 1914-15 on the icebreaker steamer "Taymyr" he participated in the Hydrographic Expedition of the Arctic Ocean. 
From January 25 to March 19, 1919, Head of the Machine and Motor School of the Naval Department in the city of Omsk (Captain 2 rank).

In 1919, he participated in a hydrographic expedition on the ships “Maria” and “Yenisei”, which surveyed the Lower Ob and Gulf of Ob in order to ascertain its patency for seagoing ships, determine the course of navigation, set up coastal signs and other works northern sea route.

In subsequent years, he worked in Siberia, moving away from polar affairs.

Cape in the north-east of the island Small Taimyr in the Laptev Sea. It was opened in 1913 by the Hydrographic Expedition of the Arctic Ocean on the icebreaker steamers "Taymyr" and "Vaigach".
