Shatilov Alexander Alexandrovich

 

Russian naval officer.

In 1811 he entered the Marine Corps as a cadet, in 1817 he was promoted to midshipman, and in 1820 - to a midshipman.

He began his service on the "Strela" borage schooner, participated in the Sveaborg campaign.

In 1821-1823 cruising in the Gulf of Finland and in the Baltic Sea; in 1824 on transport "Ketty" he was engaged in the inventory of the White Sea; in 1826, he was promoted to lieutenant.

In 1828, Shatilov was transferred to the Black Sea Fleet, which included him in the campaigns of 1828-1829 participated in the taking of the Mede, and then was assigned to Arkhangelsk.

In subsequent years, in the ranks of captain-lieutenant, captain 2 rank commanded the ships at the port of Arkhangelsk and in the Baltic Sea, in 1848 he occupied the position of assistant captain over the port of Kronstadt.

In 1849, Shatilov was promoted to captain of the 1st rank, and in 1858 he retired with the rank of major general. His achievements were awarded the orders of St. Stanislav 3 degrees , St. George 4 degrees and St. Vladimir 4 degrees.

An island in Reineke Bay off the southern coast of the southern island of Novaya Zemlya. Named  in 1833  by P.K. Pakhtusov.
