Tobisen Sivert Christian
(1821-23.04.1873)

An eminent Norwegian industrial captain from Tromso. In the last voyage, his ship wrecked near the western coast of Novaya Zemlya, most of the crew ventured to get out on a boat (they were later picked up by a Russian ship), but Tobisen himself and his son and two sailors decided to stay for winter on Novaya Zemlya.
Later it turned out that Tobisen and his son died of scurvy and starvation, but two of their companions survived - and they were also saved by Russian fur traders. Then bad rumors spread about the survivors.
