In 1882-1905 the commander of the steamer "Murman", a member of the hydrographic expedition on the description of the White and Barents Seas. For the first time noted the magnetic anomaly in the Kola Bay and suggested the presence of deposits of iron ore.

Cape in the north-west of the Khramtsov Peninsula on the west coast of the southern island of Novaya Zemlya. Named in 1889, the officers of the schooner "Bakan".
