Macedonian Alexander Petrovich 
(27.09.1916–03.01.1973)


Arctic hydrograph. 
Born in the village of Terpilovo of the Tver province in a peasant family. After graduating from primary school, the boy in 1927 moved to Leningrad to his parents, who moved there immediately after the revolution. 
He came to Arctic hydrography as an eighteen-year-old youth. After graduating from high school in 1933 and in 1935 the hydrographic courses of Macedon, he worked for more than 30 years in the
Main Directorate of the Northern Sea Route. He did not hold major positions, did not have academic degrees and titles, did not even have a higher education, but, according to his colleagues, he was a real professor on expeditions. Remarkable ability calculator manifested in him when processing field materials. Remarkable ability calculator manifested in him when processing field materials. 
Macedonian wintered on Chukotka, the New Siberian Islands, Novaya Zemlya, in the Baydaratskaya Bay, he worked on the hydrographic vessels "Zyuyd", "Vest", "Nord", carried out measurements in the Kara, Laptev, East Siberian, Chukotka seas. In the postwar years, his work was associated with Severnaya Zemlya. 
Died in Leningrad, buried in the Northern cemetery. 
Cape in the Sedov Archipelago in the Kara Sea. 
The name was assigned by the Commission on Geographical Names of the Hydrographic Enterprise of the Ministry of the Navy on April 6, 1973 and approved by the decision of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Executive Committee of June 27, 1973.
