Norwegian diplomat, financier and philanthropist.

Educated abroad, in the diplomatic service he worked in China, was consul in England. After returning to Norway in 1876, he financed the creation of the brewing company of the brothers Amund and Ellef Ringnes. Together with them, as well as shipowner T. Firnli, F. Nansen and O. Sverdrup, being members of the board of directors of the shipping company Fram, financed the Nansen expedition of 1893-1896, the Sverdrup expedition to the Canadian Arctic Archipelago in 1898-1902. and R. Amundsen's expedition to Antarctica 1910-1912.

In 1878, Heiberg founded the sports rowing club in Oslo, in 1898 he became a co-founder of the Norwegian Forest Society, whose head remained until 1923, in 1915 he transferred a significant part of his funds to the Nansen Foundation .. At the expense of his money, statues of Henryk Ibsen and Björnstern Björnsen in front of the National Theater in Oslo.

He died in Oslo. Buried in Our Savior Cemetery (Our Savior).
