Rakhmanin Fedot Ippolitovich
(1731–?)
The famous Novozemelsk feedner of the XVIII
century.
Born in Mezen. Rakhmanin
devoted forty years of his life to voyages to Novaya Zemlya,
Spitsbergen, at the mouth of the Yenisei. He
wintered 6 times in Svalbard, 26 times on Novaya Zemlya in different
places between the straits of the Kara Gate and Matochkin Shar, 5
times went by sea from the mouth of the Yenisei and back. In
those days there was no kormchik, better than Rakhmanin who knew
Novaya Zemlya.
Cape in
the Gulf of Schubert on the east coast of the southern island of
Novaya Zemlya. According
to some data, named P.K. Pakhtusov,
on the other - the 14th expedition on the ship
